FAQs
How dark should a nursery be for sleep?
A very dark room helps support natural melatonin production and reduces the chance of light disturbing naps or overnight sleep. Blackout curtains or portable blackout blinds are one of the simplest, most effective changes many parents make.
Do I need a video monitor or is audio enough?
This comes down to personal preference — an audio monitor alerts you to sound, which is sufficient for many families, while a video or wearable monitor adds extra visual or physiological reassurance for parents who want it.
When should I stop swaddling my baby?
Most babies should transition out of an arms-in swaddle by around 3–4 months, or as soon as they show signs of attempting to roll — whichever comes first, since a swaddled baby who rolls can't use their arms to reposition themselves.
What TOG rating should I choose for a sleeping bag?
TOG ratings indicate warmth — lower TOG suits warmer rooms, higher TOG suits cooler rooms. As a general guide, 1.0 TOG suits rooms around 20–24°C; always check your room temperature and dress baby in light layers underneath.
