Baby Sleeping Bags: Comfort and Safety from ergoPouch

Whether you're settling your baby at home or away for the night, a quality sleeping bag is one of the simplest ways to support safer, more consistent sleep. Our range is built around ergoPouch, an award-winning brand trusted by Australian parents for TOG-rated, organic sleepwear that adapts to your baby's stage and the room temperature.

Our ergoPouch Sleeping Bag Range

• Jersey Sleeping Bag – 1.0 TOG — a soft jersey sleeping bag suited to room temperatures around 20–24°C, keeping baby comfortably warm through the night without loose blankets in the cot.
• Cocoon Swaddle Bag – 1.0 TOG — a hybrid swaddle-and-sleeping-bag design, bridging the gap between full swaddling and an unswaddled sleeping bag as your baby transitions out of arms-in swaddling.

Both are made from breathable organic cotton and bamboo blends, certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) — gentle on sensitive skin and designed to help regulate temperature safely through the night.

Why Choose a Sleeping Bag Over Loose Bedding

• Supports safe sleep guidelines — a fitted sleeping bag removes the need for loose blankets in the cot, reducing suffocation risk in line with Red Nose Australia safe sleep guidelines.
• TOG-rated warmth — choosing the right TOG for your room temperature helps prevent overheating, an important safe sleep consideration.
• Consistent sleep cues — a sleeping bag can become part of a reliable bedtime routine, signalling to your baby that it's time to settle.
• No re-covering overnight — unlike a blanket, a sleeping bag stays in place, meaning you're not getting up through the night to re-tuck a kicked-off cover.

FAQs

What TOG rating should I choose?

TOG ratings indicate warmth — lower TOG suits warmer rooms, higher TOG suits cooler rooms. As a general guide, 1.0 TOG (the rating both ergoPouch products in our range come in) suits rooms around 20–24°C. Always check your specific room temperature and dress baby in light layers underneath.

What's the difference between the Jersey Sleeping Bag and the Cocoon Swaddle Bag?

The Jersey Sleeping Bag is a standard fitted sleeping bag for babies who are no longer swaddled. The Cocoon Swaddle Bag is a hybrid design that allows for swaddled or arms-free wear, making it a useful bridge product as your baby transitions out of full swaddling.

When can my baby start using a sleeping bag?

Sleeping bags are generally suitable from birth, though many parents introduce them once their baby has transitioned out of swaddling, typically from around 3–4 months.

Are ergoPouch sleeping bags safe for overnight use?

Yes — when the correct TOG rating is chosen for the room temperature and your baby is dressed appropriately underneath, a well-fitted sleeping bag is a safer alternative to loose blankets in the cot, supporting Red Nose Australia safe sleep guidelines.
