How do you wear the Ergobaby Alta Hip Seat, and is it easy to put on solo?

The Alta is Ergobaby's most straightforward carrier to put on and take off and that simplicity is exactly what makes it so popular for the frequent up-and-down phase of toddlerhood. It has a wide waistband with a padded shelf-like seat that baby sits on while you hold them with one arm, giving your arms and back immediate relief from carrying a growing toddler without needing to buckle into a full carrier. For hands-free carrying, the hip seat converts into a full structured carrier by attaching the removable back panel with shoulder straps giving you four carry positions in total: hip, front inward, front outward, and back carry. To put it on solo: fasten the waistband around your hips with the seat shelf facing out, position baby on the shelf with one arm supporting them, then clip the back panel and shoulder straps if you want hands-free carry. All buckling and fastening is done at the front, so there is no reaching behind your back to fasten a chest clip a feature that makes the Alta particularly accessible for parents with limited shoulder or back mobility, and for quick transitions between two caregivers. The waistband adjusts to fit from 65cm to 140cm, supporting a wide range of body types, and the carrier is suitable from around 4 months through to approximately 48 months at a maximum weight of 20kg
