Can I use the Ergobaby Embrace from birth, and do I need an infant insert?

Yes the Embrace is specifically designed for newborns and requires no infant insert, making it one of the simplest and most accessible carriers for brand new parents. It is suitable from birth at a minimum weight of 3.2kg, with no infant insert needed. This is the single most important practical advantage of the Embrace over older carrier designs that required a separately purchased insert for the first four months. In Newborn Mode, the waistbelt is folded inwards twice to shorten the back panel and narrow the seat width to fit a smaller baby snugly an adjustment that takes seconds and requires no tools. As your baby grows, you simply unfold to Baby Mode. The Embrace is suitable from birth through to approximately 11.3kg typically around 12 to 18 months making it the ideal dedicated newborn and infant carrier. For parents planning to babywear beyond this stage, the Embrace pairs naturally with an Omni Classic or Omni Deluxe as a second carrier for the toddler years. It features padded neck support to support your baby's head and neck, has been recognised by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for hip-healthy positioning, and is made from OEKO-TEX certified fabric free from harmful substances and safe against newborn skin from day one

Tight – enough to hold your baby close to you
In view at all times – you should always be able to see your baby’s face
Close enough to kiss – you should be able to reach the top of your baby’s head to kiss it
Keep chin off chest – make sure your baby’s chin is up and away from their body
Supported back – your baby’s back should be supported in a natural position with its tummy and chest against you
