Description
Counting fun begins with this extra thick wooden puzzle that includes 20 easy-grasp, chunky pieces (1-20). A full-color, matching number appears under each piece, and counting pictures equal to each numbered piece are shown on the puzzle board. Number pieces stand up. Encourages hand-eye, fine motor and early math skills.
Extension Activities: More Ways to Play and Learn:
- Ask the child to remove the pieces from the puzzle board and line them up in numerical order.
- Ask the child to find the piece that corresponds to his/her age. Show the child how to trace it with his/her finger and say the number aloud.
- Have the child place the pieces in the puzzle board one at a time, counting the background pictures in each box, and then pointing to the numeral again to reinforce the connection between numeral and quantity.
- Place three or four puzzle pieces in a row and ask the child to study them. Then have the child look away while you remove one piece. Ask the child to look again and tell you which piece is missing. Repeat with fewer or more pieces to alter the level of difficulty.
